so many urges to post this past week, but wihtout internet I did not, and now i cannotremember the little nuggets of gold i had lined up. oh, and htye were nuggets allright.
LA was awesome, as usual, all three times. that sounds weird. like "both times" and "all four times" seem ok, but three just won't cut it. anyways, as usual, i didnt get to see everyone a much as i would have liked, but that is life. i did manage to make it out to magic mountain and disneyland. Tatsu is awesome, as is the newly redesigned space mountain. everything about the 'new' SM is better, except the music, which still rocks, but is not quite the same as the old. what was the old one like? no idea, i jsut know it was better. nostalgia is great.
i have been staying up much later than i should be given that in a couple of weeks i will be waking up at 6am every day. last night i did not want to stay up, but i wasnt frickin tired so i had litle choice. so i cleaned my room. first time it has been this clean since i moved in, i think. i still have to vacuuuuuum up all the little bits of paper (colored contruction paper bits from when i got creative all up on my lesson plans, and many many white circles from when my hole-punch esploded) that still remain. anyways, it was around 3am when i ran out of things to do (no good tv was on and i didnt feel like watching a movie). so i decided to mess around with my netflix account. i was looking through my recommendations, which were once an excellent source of new movies, but had now fermented into a list of over 2000 movies I had little interest in seeing. explaining this is gonna be very boring. so, lss, if you have a netflix account i highly recommend using the rating scale as they define it, instead of giving half the movies you've seen five stars and none less than three. i had a couple hundred movies with five stars and now i only have 50. my list of recommended movies went from over 2000 to a manageable 400. this makes me feel much better.
another hting about netflix. it will recomment a movie or tv show to me and sometimes i click the 'not interested' button. i find out last night this gets counted as a movie i have rated and they treat it as if i have seen this movie/tv show. if i had seen it i would rate it! i jsut don't get it. this makes it much harder to see how many movies you have actually rated, and thus have actually seen.
apartment news-- we got the place. i will be moving on monday or tuesday depending on the availability of my uncle to SpaHa. i am very excited. though i am not excited about not having furniture for the first couplle of days. and more importantly, i wont have tv or internet for a couple ofdays!!!!!!! i should download a bunch of pron right now so i can masturbate the entire time.
last week i went ot the post office in harlem and as i walked back i passed by this barber shop called "levels." i had always wanted to get my hair cut there, but was nervous to even step inside. would they all laugh at me? would they even give me the time of day? this was an entirely new cultural experience. i don't think i would have thought that if not for hte movie "barbershop." so ive never seen barbershop, but i think i get the idea. anyways, as i walk buy i glance inside to check out the goings ons. there are two barbers siting out front talking and one of them says to me "hey man, you want a hair cut." i'm already past these guys, but with my big hair as it were i had a feeling he was addressing me. i turn, with a big goofy grin and say "yeah." "how do you want it?" i love this question because i get to say "short on the sides and longer on the top." its great t be a guy. "how long do you want it on the top?" arg, foiled. "ummm, im not sure." now theres a man who knows what he wants. "well do you want buzzer or scissors?" "scissors." "allright, Damien here is your man." oooh, a specialist. Damien wasnt his real name, i cannot remember it. but it was similat ro damien. so Dame and I go inside and i have a seat. he asks me some questions and i cant undersand a word he says. hes a mumbler and theres hip hop playing in the background. we finally determine that i want a fade-- two on the sides about this long on the top. he asked me like five times how long i wanted it on the top, i showed him, and he still got it too short. this always happens to me. at one point he asked if i wanted a "light fade." no idea what that means. i told him so. he tried ot explain. no idea what he said, so i said yes. throughout the process many guys walked in and they all gave each bartender the whats up five and said hello to the other customers, well not me. a guy tried to sell me fake watch. no glasses on, this defintiely surprised me. and a short man of latin descent came in to sell fruit.
all in all i was a cool experiece and im pretty happy with the do. i went to my new apartment the other day, and just down hte street is another "levels" barber shop. oh yeah, this was the longest hair cut i've ever had. the guy was meticulous. gotta love that. also near my new apt is a "franks papaya" a "gray's papaya ripoff"; a chinese take-out place; a pizza place; two banks; pathamrk supermarket; subway stop; 99 cent store; and who know what else!! oh yeah, a liquor store, the closest of them all.
