Mighty Mouse
I never really thought apple should have a two-button mouse, but given the ridiculous number of people who were under the wrong impression that you could only use a one-button mouse with a mac i htought apple needed it to increase its market share. i still didn't like the idea of apple releasing a two-button mouse because to me it kind ofgoes against their philosophy of simplicity- all you really need is one button (on a side-note the guy who origianlly came up with the mac concept has said using the one-button mouse for the mac was his biggest mistake). and its true i have been using my computer this summer with one button. i prefer two, or many, but one has been fine. give my mom more than one button and i think she would get more confused. but today, apple released what they are calling the Mighty Mouse. I think it looks pretty awesome and it has the potential to be an awesome mouse. i used to use a mouse (same as bobby woo) with a touch sensitive scroll wheel and i thought it was awesome. i am curious to see if the touch-sensitive "buttons" on the mighty mouse require the same motion as a normal click, which would be ideal, or if they will require a "tap" like all the touch-sensitive devices i have ever used. i think that it will be the former because that would just make sense. okay, enough mac crap.
i leave on sunday for what should be a fantastic road trip. first stop: las vegas. matt and i will be staying at the boardwalk hotel and casino for $30 a night. never heard of the boardwalk? well its a very small, crappy hotel right in the middle of the strip. it is right across the street from the southstrip travel lodge, where we normally stay. the TL was $50/night, so we went with the BW. After 2 nights in vegas we head to colorado to stay in matt's dad's summer/extra house. we will be fly fishing (i am very excited about this), visiting tim, and just generally relaxing. Manisha will be joining us around this time to finish the rest of the trip with us. We then head to wyoming for a couple days. This is where matt's dad lives most of the year. then to chicago to see matt's sister. then to sandusky, ohio for Cedar Point- possible the best amusement park in the world. I met a friend of a friend from ohio a couple nights ago and arranged for our lodging when we roll through town. finally we make our way to our new residence in New York.
now to finish with a humorous story....
matt and i were at taco bell. i had ordered, amongst other things, a crunchwrap supreme- one of the greatest inventions of 2005. as i walked up to the counter to get my order three teenagers walk in (two boys, one girl). they are behind me as i approach hte counter and I hear the girl ask "oh, what is this double decker thing?" my first thought was hello! the double decker taco has been around for ages. live in the now! but i peeked over my shoulder to see that she was pointing at a sign they had erected in the "lobby" advertising the crunchwrap supreme. with impeccable timing the girl wonders aloud how big the double decker thing is right as i turn around. i look her right squa in the eyes and say, pointing to my very own crunchwrap supreme, "this is what it looks like. it is very good." the boys are dumbfounded. they don't know what to do. the girl a little less so, but i can tell they are weirded out. so i start laughing. the girl gives me a sympathy laugh and the boys continue ot be confused. i continue to laugh over to my seat where matt is waiting and laughing, having heard the whole thing. he said "its a good thing we know how to entertain ourselves."
