Presidential Sweet

Mosied over to the American Museum of Natural History on Tuesday with some teacher friends in hopes of finding cool science stuff in the bookstore/giftshop for our classes. we saw an imax movie (it was about spelunkers, and it was free) and then checked out some gems in the hall 'o gems and minerals. after the bookstore proved basically sans fruit we left through the 'back' entrance on 81st street. this is an entrance used mostly for large groups and people with free tickets from education classes, like us. we were hangin out there, talkin about school stuff, but we soon had to be leaving. while we were waiting i noticed there was a photographer at this entrance taking pictures of nothing but this entrance. i thought this odd and mentioned it to my friends. we couldn't come up with a good reason for this guy to be taking pictures. we get up to go and i notice there are quite a few security guards standing around the entrance now, and then i see two secret service-looking guys. i slow down to try to figure out what is going on. then a group of people emerge from the museum. i scan the small crowd and spot none other than President William Jefferson Clinton. "Oh crap" was the next thing i said as i pointed The Man out to my friends. I tried to get close for a handshake but there were a lot of people doing the same. then they took a group picture, which I could have been in, but realized it was supposed to be of museum staff and I didnt really feel like raining on their parade. The Man was shaking hands and inching (as a result of 'his people' pulling/nudging him) closer and closer to his black SUV. At his point Liz and Dora, my aforementioned friends, were next to me as we tried to get our chance to touch The Man. We did not, he turned and was about to get in his car. Then Liz says "Mister..." no, Liz, President Clinton... "President Clinton, we're new york city public school teachers." Against the will of 'his people' he stops, turns around, walks toward us and asks "you are teachers?" we all teach science. Dora adds, "we just graduated from teachers colelge, adn are very excited to be teaching." i was mumbling in awe. this guy is awesome. he shook our hands and said thank you like four times. then he looked us all in the eyes and said "well, the future of our country is in your hands." i just nodded. i couldn't speak. what do i say this guy? ok, i said thank you a few times.

part deux.
another firend of mine, Vidy, got some mets tickets for that same night. awesome seats. great game. we arrived in the fourth inning in time for an Albert Pujols (everyone say it with me: POO-HOLES) three run homer. A couple innings later he topped himself with a grand slam (i called it too). The Cards were up 7-1 at this point. that same inning carlos delgado hits a nother Grand Slam. crazy! the hardcore mets fans around me were going nuts. THEN to top it all off in the 9th inning, Cards up 7-6, two outs one man on Carlos Beltran comes up and hits a home run on the first pitch. amazing! during this game we also found out that Bill Clinton was in attendance. i think he's following me around. all in all a pretty good day.
