oh internet, how do i love thee...

i have been without internet for the last five or six days (whenever i came back to this side of the country) and its been very frustrating. but it is back now! and i am happy. ok, i was happy before, but now i can be happy in my room and waste time inhere instead of the computer lab-- boooring.
matt and i aplied for our new apartment yesterday. if all goes well we will be living in Spanish Harlem, SpaHa as I like to call it, in a few weeks. thats the upper upper east side of manhattan for anyone unfamiliar with nyc. upper east side, you see, is really the middle third of the east side. people tend to igore all the poor people that live to north. its even worse on the west side where the island gets really thin and reaches fartehr north than the east side. according to my map, the upper east side goes from 59th to 96th street. the upper west side, on the other hand, goes from 59th to 110th st, though some consider 110th to be Morningside Heights. 110th still works though. so it goes farther north than the UES you say. true, but the east side goes up to 135th street adn the west side goes to 220th street! above the UWS you get Morningside Heights, Harlem, then Hamilton Heights, then Washington Heights, and then Inwood. Morningside Heights and Hamilton Heights are my favorite. As far as I cna tell Morningside Heights is really harlem, but a lot of white folks live there because of Columbia, so they came up with a nicer sounding name. Hamilton Heights is the same thing, but the racial part of it is much less clear. Hamilton Heights, as far as I can tell, is really Washington Heights, but its the nicer part. the people that live in HH wouldnt want to be confused with living in WH so they came up with a different name, this time sounding about the same, but with fewer negative connotes.
lunch time, more later.
