Super Bowl XXIX (39): you mean american football? rubbish

I just finished watching the 39th super bowl in England. And I must say that this was the most enjoyable wuper for me to date. The game itself wast too great, but the environment made it a great experience. First, I must admit that this was my first SB where I actually drank alcoholic beverages. In total, I had 5 pints. This isnt that much, but I did get pretty boozed from it (I had a small dinner due to a lack of hunger, but I'm not sure that can actually acount for the extent of booziness I felt during the game, and right now). Which brings me to my next point- I finished my fifth pint about twenty minutes ago so if any of this doesnt make sense- I ahve an excuse AND I dont give a farckin hoot. So, we began by going to some beer. by we I mean me, jared, matt, and richard a mate, as they call friends in these here parts, of ours went to the local booze shop threshers. we had planned to go to Sainsbury's, the spuermarket, but it closes at 5pm on MFin sunday. in england they would say thats "bullocks." well maybe they wouldnt since theyre used to this commie bullshit. so we had ot go to the booze store. we bought beer and crisps (potato chips). actually we bought kettle chips- the only chips that are actually labelled as chips, and arent french fries, in the whole damn country. On the way to thresher we passed by a bum to whom we told we had nothing. we didnt say we had not spare change, just nothing. okay, well richard said this, but i mean it kinda spoke for the whole group. so on the way back as we were about to go back the same way i commented "its gonna be funny when we walk past that bum with all this shit." we went a differnt way. I bought four pints (imperial pints; 568 ml; 19.2 US fl oz (thanks google) of bottled beer. BUT before i drank any of said bottles I purchased a pint of tettley's from the bar at St cahterines (Cats) wehre we were watching the game. Now we were expecting the american broadcast, which we eventually got. But at first all we had was the 1:30 of english pregame. what a hilarious thing. there was this english dude goign around jacksonville sampling the local bar and the B&B's. it was bery humorous. oh, and at one pont the had the carolina panthers cheerleaders goign over the rules of the game for the brits. Now whats funny about htis is that i first i thought that made sense. But NO, the Superbowl was in Jacksonville not South Carolina where the Panthers play. It was at this moment that i realized how stupid it was for the NFL to expand into to southern states in the very same year and name the teams after two big cats (panthers and jaguars). Firthermore, if you ever happen to go to wikipedia as often as i do to waste time as often as i do, then you WILL KNOW that a panther (namely a black panther as is portrayed on the Panthers logo) can be one of many large cats with a pigmentation mutation- most commonly the JAGUAR and the Leopard. SO really the Panthers and th jaguras could be the same damn species. this is rediculous. im not sure this should be allowed in professional sports. well ive gotten off topic. the game was not very sxciting, but i really enjoyed it for a few reasons. as i already said, i was pretty well boozed all the way through. i was with my some firends who are into football to a minimal enough degree that we could talk about the game (actually jared is very well-versed in the rules and history of football, i was quite impressed). the brits were a blast to watch with. we basically were constantly making barbs at each others sports and so on. oh and i had five pints. maybe i already said that. we also made a funny discovery tonight. so when we got our packets from cambridge to prepare us to come here there was a littel thing about drinking. it said that 24 units was the max for a guy to drinnk each week. we all just kinda assumed those were pints. but on one of matt's cans of beer which was 473 ml of beer it said 1.7 british units. so we had been trying to keep up with something that was totally out of reason. granted, we hadnt been doing a great job, but we were trying. also we (by we i mean matt had some free time and was thinking about taking shots here which are 25ml) realized earlier this week that we were getting ripped off when we were taking shots. so here they have these littel deivces that measure out the amount of fluid for each shot. most places its 25 ml. in the US, a standard shot is 1.5 ounces, which is equivalent to almost 45ml. which makes so much sense. i think half a pint or 1 25 ml shot is a "unit." BS. and shots cost a little less that beer, but really they are not the same amount of alcohol as a beer.
in conclusion i leave you with a quote from a guy i met here a couple weeks ago that i meant ot post but i kept forgetting:
"America pretty much has the world on the ropes when it comes to want and glutton."
I must say that he is spot on.
