To snag the quote from Tim;s page:
My kind of loyalty was loyalty to one's country, not to its institutions or its officeholders. The country is the real thing, the substantial thing, the eternal thing; it is the thing to watch over, and care for, and be loyal to; institutions are extraneous, they are its mere clothing, and clothing can wear out, become ragged, cease to be comfortable, cease to protect the body from winter, disease, and death.

I must say that this is exactly what I have been htinking since Kerry gave in, i mean conceded (damn why was there no voter fraud!!!!). But thinking about the country definitely scares me. I mean the people were presented with civil rights issued and chose not to grant civil rights to certain people they feel are immoral. hey, criminals get a fair chance, even though they may be immoral. but it seems that this election, as tim said, was decided by people that don't want gay marriage and don't want abortions. This pisses me off and worries me that more civil iberties will be taken away. To me this country is awesome because we strive for equality. many times we dont do a very good job of it, but at least we are trying. in this case i feel we have taken a huge step backwards. HUGE. typing this up maks me quite sad. I still have hope, i htink. For example BARAK OBAMA in 2016 is gonna rock. he is the shizzle. ok, i gots to go.
oh yeah one more thing. i got rejected by teach for america. i have a feeling my lower than average (for any other private school whre grade infaltion rules the day) GPA got me in hte end. whatevs. but now I have no clue what to do. as i see it ive got four choices:
1. take a year off
2. take a year off and go to law school
3. go to grad school in biology (but what do i study? plants? yeast? evolution?...)
4. get my masters of education and teach some little buggers how to think (i am kinda partial to this one right now)
anyways, iwant you all to vote for what i should do with my life!!!! your opinions probably wont have any bearing on my decision, but I'd like to know what my friends think about this.... ok thanks for reading

Grad school! But I hate little buggers, so I'm biased. And I don't want ALL of us who though we were gonna be biologists to become shar- I mean, lawyers.
=P
=P
Y'know I can't really picture you as a lawyer. I think you're too funny and well, human to be a lawyer. I could see you as a teacher, but for some reason, PE teacher looks right to me.
Haha.
Haha.
I think you should definitely become a lawyer.
Then, after we all eventually fall onto the path of darkness way we can start our own superfirm
Mike and Brad and Carlos and Sarah and David and Geetha and Marie and Tim and yes even Bobby LLC.
Of course in reality we won't do any work, and will have imported child labor from New Guinea handle all the cases while we play Half-Life all day.
(Yes we'll have kittens to play with for the girls, genetically engineered kittens who never grow up)
Boy that was a rambling poast.
